Services

SVTS is proud to serve the people of the Big Sandy Valley area with emphasis placed on serving the elderly and individuals with special needs. Many individuals rely completely on SVTS for their medical transportation. SVTS provides transportation to the doctor and other health care services. Also programs such as the local Senior Citizens centers.

SVTS assists with the transportation of many of the area's annual festivals and with the area's tourism transportation needs.

Region 14 Human Service Transportation Delivery Broker and Provider

In May, 1998 SVTS was the first transit agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to be awarded a contract to serve as a broker in Kentucky's Human Service Transportation Delivery Program (HSTD).

The HSTD program consolidates transportation services previously provided by various state governmental agencies. The former transportation delivery process was fragmented, increasingly costly, and vulnerable to fraud and abuse. In addition transportation services were not easily accessible in some rural areas. Under the HSTD program, transportation services for the Department for Medicaid Services, Department for the Blind and Department of Vocational Rehabilitation are coordinated by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Community Transit Services

SVTS provides --

Safe and dependable transportation services at very affordable rates for all the residents of the 5 county area. The same fare applies for each passenger and each type of transportation. SVTS provides a variety of demand-response transit services for all residents of the area.

Transportation services for the following senior citizens centers. The transportation consists of transporting seniors from their residences to the center and transporting the seniors to numerous designations during the day for shopping, medical appointments, drug stores, beauty shops, etc. … and then back home.

Wayland Senior Citizens, Inc. & Wayland Adult Day Care

Daily transportation of individuals who are not Medicaid eligible to Mountain Comprehensive Care Center’s day care programs and to medical appointments.

Transit services for the residents of housing authorities in the city of Prestonsburg. The residents are transported to various locations throughout the area to take care of personal business and for socialization and recreational purposes.

Non-emergency transportation services for eligible citizens of Pike County as determined by the Pike County Social Services department (PCSS). SVTS has an agreement with the PCSS for the provision of transit services.

Provide transportation for many human and health service agencies and organizations in the big sandy geographical area
Leases Section 5309 and 5310 funded vehicles to human service organizations to assist with their transportation needs.
